Noah's 10!

My baby!!  How can it be?  A decade old already??  At least last year I knew that I still had half of his growing up years left.  Now it's down to less than half!

We had a great day today, though it ended up being a much different day than we had planned.  The plan was to go to a Chilean brunch that a family from the church we visited last weekend so kindly invited us to.  We were then going to go into La Pentana and do kids' church at Hogar.  The poor family had to cancel the brunch because one of their sons got a concussion and they were in the hospital all night. Thank goodness the little boy is ok!   The director at Hogar cancelled, again.  Bummer.  But we turned the day around and had a lot of fun.

Noah opened some cards a few of you sent with us, and a couple of small gifts (he had already opened his big gift before we left for Chile - Nintendo DS).  In the morning we went to a bakery and got some incredible treats.  Then we went to the grocery store, since as apparently you all know we have to go there every day when I'm home since I "eat so much" as the boys put it.  (!!!)  We looked for the cat that hides out and is tolerated in the grocery store, but couldn't find him.  He often hides under one of these openings by the freezer section.  As usual, the grocery store had a ton a great bread.  Apparently Chile eats more bread per capita than any country but France.

After lunch we went to the Santiago zoo.  This was quite the eclectic and fun place.  It's built into the side of this really steep "foothill" type of mountain in town.  We saw lots of animals that we don't see in Denver, like a Cuban crocodile (who looked naturally angry), a white Bengal tiger and lots of tropical birds that were really cool looking.

We got back and had a potato dish we found here that the boys really like.  Cake after dinner topped things off, and wow was it good (they really know how to bake here).

We were disappointed to not get to do kids' church yet again.  It's the second week in a row Hogar has cancelled at the last minute.  Well, at least we didn't travel 90 min. to get there, only to find out it was cancelled.  We tell the Lord every morning when we wake up, "We're here, what would you like us to do today?"  So it's not for us to worry about - we'll just get up tomorrow and see what He wants to do.

The prayer request for today is that we'd get to go into Hogar these next couple weeks, even though some of the girls will be home for the two week winter break.  The ones that are there have parents that have lost visitation rights, and seem to be in the most need of some love and fun.

Noah was born about this time on July 7th - like he says, "I don't really turn 10 years old until sometime after I go to bed."  He was born at 10:06 p.m.  Great memories.

Thanks for reading!!
