| Noah on Metro |
Hi, this is Griff. Copa America is the "most important soccer event in Latin America" and is currently in progress. Today was another one of Chile's games (which explains Noah's attire). They were playing against Peru who they were tied with for first in their group. This was also the final game of the group stage. Well, Chile won 1-0 with a goal in the 90th minute (actually three minutes into extra time). So Chile will be in first place in their group and advance to the quarter finals. After the goal, we could hear cheers and yelling out in the streets like we were actually at the game. Now that the game has been over for a half hour, we still hear cars driving down the street honking their horns. They really do love their soccer here!

This morning we got up and spent some time at home until it was time to go to Hogar. We arrived at Hogar and knocked on the steel door outside the wall. No one responded so we found some nail size holes to look through and didn't see anyone. We started to wonder if we were going to get in when finally someone started talking to us through the intercom in Spanish. We didn't know what she was saying, so we kept asking her to let us in (in English). I think they finally figured out who we were because they did let us in.

At Hogar, we played with the girls and their puppies. We had lots of fun playing with them. One of the girls found a Foosball ball so we played a little Foosball with their table that gets left outside. The players are made of steel and none of them have feet. Also, the bars don't have their handles, so they are hard to turn. But the girls still love to play! Dad also read them the book, Tu Eres Especial, which is the Spanish version of You Are Special. Dad got through the first page and the girls decided he wasn't doing a very good job reading. When we turned to the second page, one of the girls decided it would be better if she read. And then another girl read the third page. So, they ended up taking turns reading and they did let Dad read a page every so often (they didn't want him to feel too bad :)).
We tried some new things at the supermarket for dinner tonight. We bought some empanadas, but we didn't know what kinds. One turned out to be ground beef and the other was a fish one. They were actually pretty good for just being bought at the grocery store. But the kids had a potato pie. It's hard to explain, but looks like a deep dish pizza but it is made primarily of potatoes. Noah and Wil really like it! Griff decided to pass on everything and just had some of his favorite fresh bread (some with peanut butter and some with ketchup).
Please pray for our visit to Hogar tomorrow. Today, one girl asked when we would be coming back and Dad said tomorrow. She was very excited. Also pray for Dylan. He has a hard time when Kristin is gone.
Thank you for all your prayers.
